Reports, annotations and review: the workflow every vertical asked for
A twin is only useful once someone can mark it up, get it checked, and turn what they found into a document someone else will actually read.
When we ran a proper gap analysis across every persona on the platform, from Site Managers to Underwriters, the same handful of requests kept surfacing regardless of vertical. Not a new AI capability, not a headline feature. Reports, annotations, and a review and approval workflow. Unglamorous, and the thing every single client actually needed before anything else.
Why the boring features win
A twin that only lives inside the platform is a curiosity to everyone except the person who captured it. Value gets created the moment someone else, a client, a regulator, a colleague who was not on site, can see exactly what was found and trust that it is accurate. That requires three things working together: the ability to mark a specific point in the twin with a note (annotation), the ability to have someone else check and formally approve that finding (review and approval), and the ability to turn a set of findings into a document that leaves the platform (reports).
The same three features, four different jobs
A defect annotated on site, reviewed by a PM, and reported into the golden thread record.
A claim finding annotated by a surveyor, reviewed by a Claims Manager, and reported as evidence for the file.
A vulnerability annotated by a Risk Manager, reviewed by the Security Director, and reported into an incident record.
That pattern, mark it, check it, report it, is close enough to identical across every vertical that we built it once, properly, rather than as four separate features that would drift apart over time.
Why we shipped this first: it was tempting to lead the roadmap with heatmap overlays or AI detection, because they demonstrate better. We shipped reports, annotations and review and approval first because without them, everything else on the platform stays trapped as a nice looking view nobody outside the platform ever sees.
The next most requested feature, heatmap overlays, needed by six personas across every vertical, is covered later in this series. Read that post.
